My name is Emily
Being creative is an expression of oneself. Everything can make a difference, from the head space you are in, to how you physically feel at that moment, or what environment you are in. I love that.
I believe everything in day-to-day life is an inspiration when your eyes are open to it. I use that idea to design my jewelry and creations. It brings magic to the table as I experiment and play.
Working with clay was a perfect fit. It challenges me in all the right ways. My designs tell just enough of where they come from but still holding a story of their own.
They start as nothing, a blank canvas, a raw piece of clay in my hand. Shape and form, design and invention, it’s brought to life, something that will last forever.
What is metal clay you say?
Metal clay is made from very fine particles of recycled metal suspended in an organic binder. It begins as a powder, mixed into clay and free formed into my design.
Its dried out for 24 hours, sanded and burnished then fired in my kiln.
The organic binder burns away leaving solid bronze. I then go on and finish the jewelry with various sanding and polishing techniques.
